Hitting milestones in 2026

It has been a delightful start to 2026 watching our little twin granddaughters growing up and becoming healthy and hitting their milestones despite still being very tiny.

Happy healthy twins

We remind ourselves frequently that these pocket rockets have actually gained an amazing amount of weight since they were born – in Matilda’s case, well over ten times her body weight -(Eva weighed 894 gms and Tilly 420 gms at birth and they are now roughly 6 kilos and 5 kilos respectively).

A rare photo of Tilly without her feeding tube, taken before a two hour round trip to replace it

They have had many “firsts” including their first ever visit to a park with friends, sitting unaided for the first time, standing (holding on to someone’s hands or a piece of furniture), eating solid food, and their first wonderful trip away and sleeping in the caravan.

So good to use the caravan when you have a lunch stop!
In the meantime, our beloved grand daughter in the Netherlands visits the local city farm

Meanwhile we have experienced some firsts of our own – Jonathan got to dig some holes with Ben’s digger which was exciting (and a little nerve wracking to watch!).

It’s very hair raising when the digger tips up
We enjoyed a visit to the travelling Banksy exhibition

I also had my first book club get together in our new home.

Lunch ready with a Dutch theme

As the book we read was set in Delft I decided to make the lunch Dutch themed and decorated the room accordingly and served Dutch food – including Mustard soup which was delicious!

A fun lunch with book club ladies

We also paid our first visit to our the new terrestrial home of our former buddy boat owner’s Sue and John (ex Catabella).

It’s always a pleasure to be near the sea

They have found a fabulous house in a resort close to Coffs Harbour in New South Wales which is about four hours away from our place in Brisbane.

As always we had a great time together and we loved their gorgeous new home – especially all the wildlife that lived there!

As are the giant lizards and water dragons (and below)
We have wildlife at our house too! A visiting spider at the toilet window

We found this handsome python in the generator!
