Having had a great time in Koh Yao Noi previously we were keen to take our daughter there during her short stay on Bali Hai.
Torrential rain! Glad we weren’t on our way to shoreWe saw out a heavy early evening rain storm at anchor and then took our chances and went in to have a cocktail on the beach followed by a meal at the excellent Rice Paddy restaurant, run by the attentive German mein host Frank.
Dining at the Rice PaddyOur daughter is a vegan and she was delighted to find meals incorporating meat substitute and substituting oyster sauce etc for vegan flavourings. All the food was delicious!
Pre-dinner drinks at the Beach BarThe next day we hired motor bikes and had a wonderful ride round the island, stopping of course at Joy’s to buy gifts for Delhi friends and a lovely restaurant in the fisherman’s village, and finishing at Sabai Corner Bungalows for a drink.
The Wild One
Biking with a viewWe had a divine massage not far from Sabai Corner – next door to a coffee shop. It was so good that we immediately made appointments for the next day!
At the Sabai Corner Bungalows
Joy’s shop – great for giftsThen it was time to start our return journey. En route we stopped at Koh Naka Yai for the night. Yes, there were lots of tourists there but we went at the far end of the beach where it was quiet.
A quiet corner at Koh Naka Yai
We found a relatively quiet spotWe watched the amazing antics of the boys running the parasailing.
When a child or an adult that was uncertain was having a parasail, one of the boys would leap on at the last moment- as the passenger was taking off- and without a safety harness or any other device to keep him from harm, just grabbed hold of the bottom of the harness, and hauled himself on. Once upright he hooked his legs round the back of the passenger and hung on!
Ready for lift off
No safety gear. Don’t let go!
What a tricky manoeuvreIt was hair raising but very exciting to watch! Coming in to land was particularly amazing as the boys leapt off from quite a height as the passenger was gently dipped into the water.
Heart in the mouth stuff!
Coming into landAs the afternoon started to turn into evening all the tourists left the island and we had the beach to ourselves. The view from the beach over Phang Nga Bay was stunning and we felt like we were inside a postcard.
Peace at last – like being in a postcardAnd then it was the last day and time to head back to Yacht Haven to take our daughter to the airport.
We had a wonderful few days despite the delayed start. There was still lunch to be enjoyed at our favourite feet in the sand restaurant- the Living Room. Then on to the airport to bid farewell- until next time.
